The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) has successfully outperformed other NHS organisations for its speed to complete pre-employment checks.
Data shared from NHS recruitment management system Trac, revealed that the NCA is one of the quickest organisations to process pre-employment checks this year, supporting candidates to start in role 2 weeks faster than the NHS national average.
Pre-employment checks are screenings and verifications conducted by employers to assess a candidate's suitability and qualifications. These checks include background and criminal history, employment and education verification, reference checks, identity verification, and occupational health.
All new appointments in the NHS require pre-employment checks before commencing in post to ensure accuracy of candidate information, reduce risks and maintain a safe and productive workplace.
As one of the largest NHS Foundation trusts in the country, the NCA processes as many as 360 new starters per month which is approximately 2.5 times more than the national average.
Reporting one of the quickest pre-employment times, despite its size and complexity, highlights the NCA's dedication to service excellence and enhancing the candidate experience.
Karen Mooney, Resourcing Operations Manager said: “Processing pre-employment checks quickly and professionally means our candidates are able to hand in their notice and feel excited for their new role earlier. Thanks to the hard work of our amazing Recruitment team, we can also fill vacancies faster, ensuring optimised care delivery without sacrificing our service or the candidate journey. The improvements we have made to our pre-employment screening times has also created great results in our new starter survey, with 96% of recruits rating their recruitment experience with us as excellent or good in July 2024.”
The Recruitment team are currently shortlisted for ‘Recruitment team of the year’ by the Healthcare People Management Association (HPMA) and look forward to the award ceremony on 3rd October 2024.
